Co-Located Events

BuilConn

M2M Expo 2005 will be co-located with BuilConn 2005. BuilConn is the prominent Expo and Conference for the networked building systems industry—the industry that provides integrated systems for buildings such as HVAC, security, lighting, life safety and their integration with IT networks.

Co-locating with BuilConn allows M2M Expo attendees and exhibitors to gain valuable insight into the Buildings venue—one of the most prominent adopters of M2M in the recent past and in the near future (albeit this industry does not refer to themselves as M2M).

Many BuilConn attendees and exhibitors will also see significant value in the M2M Expo; these attendees are essentially a group of adopters, integrators and end users of M2M.

M2M Expo and BuilConn attendees are allowed to attend any of the sessions in either event. Likewise, Expo-Only attendees will be free to visit either of the two expo areas and networking opportunities.

The XML Pavilion

The XML Pavilion will feature technology demonstrations showing the extensive potential of XML and Web Services in a cross-section of the buildings industry including security, HVAC, gateway, enterprise and IT solution providers technology.

Overall, the participants in the Pavilion will provide BuilConn attendees with the first opportunity to get a sense of the possible in regards to XML/Web Services and how this technology will impact the buildings industry as a whole. Live demonstrations will show how the technology is used within manufacturers’ products, as a communication protocol and as an enabling integration technology. Several of the demonstrations will be networked while others will show a standalone application. It is important to note that not all of the products used in the demo at the pavilion are available for sale; the point is for the industry to realize the enormous application potential when XML is used in building systems.

The XML Pavilion will be a subset of the Building Systems Expo and is free to all attendees.

BuilSpec Education Seminars

The BuilSpec Educational Seminars are intensive one-day events designed for the building owners, facility managers, consulting and in-house engineer involved with designing projects in the midst of the sweeping changes occurring in the buildings industry. IT convergence, the Internet and open systems are all forming an integral part of this new design process, and the BuilSpec seminar series will provide these people with an objective and clear understanding of the technologies, initiatives and trends that are reshaping the building systems playing field.

BuilSpec will take place as a track of the Building Systems BootCamp occurring on Monday, March 21st.
